Efficient centre. Very clean and well organised. Everyone very welcoming to visitors. An asset to the company in my opinion.
Nice staff, nice warm, dry place to work, tho, it isn't a shop. You can't just go in and buy something, it is only a distribution center. I have seen people being shown around whilst I worked there, so I suppose you could get a tour if you went through the right channels. Their head office is located in Windermere, adjacent to the railway station, and IS ALSO a shop. They have trucks with the Lakeland logo on which supply their shops up and down the country and use Hermes(2017) to deliver their home shopping parcels. The original building (on the right hand side behind the tall wall) was originally built to house product, sort and supply their shops, long before the home shopping network took off. The newer part, to the left as you drive in, is the home shopping area itself. Theres a nice water feature leading you to the main entrance. There has been 4 extensions made to the site over the years, though you would never know, with plenty of land at the rear to keep going. In home shopping, everything is manually picked, checked and packed, with computer aided gizmos. A fancy conveyor system takes parcels to the trucks and are manually filled.(3D live Tetris) The car park is 1st left and left again (for cars), Hermes and smaller trucks taking product away is left and straight on, and deliveries are past the main entrance and round to the left, round the back.
Unloading Containers generally slow work. They seem to have it under control.
